Japanese spirit lies in Japanese culture and customs passed down from ancient times. They include traditional art in which we engaged, and should be passed down to future generations. However, if this goes on, such Japanese spirit may become a thing of the past.

Our job is to produce traditional art, which is inseparable from Japanese culture and customs. The rapid westernization since the Meiji Era has hindered us from passing down Japanese culture and customs. In addition, a decrease of craftsmen has made it difficult to pass on traditional art skills.

Nevertheless, just because it is traditional art doesn’t mean it should be preserved. We must change. Now that our lifestyles and house structures have changed, traditional art needs to change. Owing to our ancestors who had preserved their traditional art skills while changing with the times, we can now inherit them.

Taking pride in our traditional art skills, we would like to continue to pass down Japanese culture and customs without fearing change.

We think now is the time to deliver Japanese spirit to every corner of Japan as well as to all over the world.
